Rånåsfoss III is the rehabiltation of Norway's oldest county-owned power station, Rånåsfoss I, which in 2012 turned 90 years.

All six aggregats at Rånåsfoss I will be replaced. Each of the new aggregats has an installed capacity of 13,6 MW and are vertical installations. The new Propeller turbines have a capacity of 125m3/sec and will increase the production capacity in flood periods. The new installations also include new draft tubes and a new machine hall built in glass.

The annual production will increase by 60GWh, equivalent to the annual consumption of 3000 Norwegian households. Akershus Energi will invest 775 million NOK in the project and it will be finished by 2016.
